Our Next President?

Gov. Tom Vilsack (Iowa) just threw his hat into the ring for the Democrats. He is a pro-renewable energy, centrist who could actually go pretty far. We will have to see though. I hope that the Democrats do not spend all their time and money beating each other up, arriving at the 2008 election tired and worn out. Hilary will fight to the end to get that nomination.

The Comaraderie of Riding

Thanks to Le Roi de Donuts for lending me "The Collective", last year's MTB adventure film of choice. The follow up film (Roam) is due out this winter. While the riding, backdrops and commentary was all very familiar, I thought the filmmakers did a great job of demonstrating the bonds and friendship between the riders. The "personal interest" side of the film was actually believable, and made me identify with the riders much more than the usual film. Even Catherine sat through the whole thing. Usually she is good for only one heavy metal segue then she is out of there.

Last Sunny Shot of Yosemite

Thanks to Bob and Sherry for this beautiful shot of the Valley in late fall 2006. Lower Pines is probably covered in 6-inches of snow at the moment.

More Pictures of Slate

Here is a picture of Slate post Crank Brothers#6 in PDX. Slate wore an all-white skin suit, showing that he has a great washing machine and good detergent. Very brave indeed.

Racing at Laguna Seca

Ever wonder what it is like to drive down the "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca? Here is a video of Bob back in his days of Lotus ownership. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRwcJJnwJqg

Canadian Cross

Just like bacon, our friends to the north have a knack for doing things better. Check out this course layout during their recent National Championships. If we did this in the States, the whining from the roadie crowd would drown out the cowbells.

The Beard dilemma

Here is the latest from Slater Kinney up in PDX. Its a great look for him but his lady is giving it the big thumbs down. In fact, most significant others are vehemently against the facial growth. Its an age old dilemma that is always up for debate.

Smooth and Tricky

I once heard a Aussie downhiller describe his riding as "smooth and tricky". This Queenslander exemplifies that down under style.

Suffering Like the Rest of Us

Here is Lance Armstrong after finishing his first marathon in NYC. I did not know he was capable of suffering. You gotta love the green and yellow outfit. I wonder if Slate picked out his wardrobe?

Course Design

Last week's Surf City cx race had this awesome spiral "twisty" feature that had you spin around and back on yourself feature. Check out Rachael Lloyd about to cut off Sarah Kerlin right at the center of the turn. The ladies are brutally competitive.

More Animal Cruelty

Here is a picture of "Spooky" from the http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com/ webpage. Are Hitler jokes funny? Always; just ask Mel Brooks. Thanks for the link Dave, you will always be more tech savvy than me.
