Post Race Moment

One of our rider's Mom just sent me this nice photo from a MTB race back in February. This is the post race, tired (but proud) moment right before everybody piles into their respective cars and drives home in the rain. Some of these kids are wicked fast and still getting better. It will be interesting to see how their bike racing future turns out over the next 10 years or so...

Stacked

The Disco boys pulled off another team victory last week in Paris-Nice, "the race to the sun". Their GC threat (Contador) needed a solid pull up the last steep climb, so what does Discovery do? They send Danielson, Leipheimer and Popovich up to the front to ride hard tempo and launch Contador to victory. Each one of those guys is a superstar in their own right. I am not really a Disco fan right now, but I was impressed on how they have come together as a group. Tough to do with that many egos.

Straight Edge

David Millar is back on the straight and narrow. It is nice to see an athletic rebirth with as much support and positive feedback as this one. Lots of people would disagree with me, but David has paid his dues and we should forgive his petty sins. He had a nice win today in Paris. Good job David. What is with that podium "girl" on the right. He/she is no Parisian...

Chavez Loves Bush

Chavez is stirring up a lot of political unrest surrounding Prez Bushie's visit to South America. These kind posterboards are showing up all around Buenos Aires. Chavez even organized his own anti-Bush rally at a soccer stadium. What a mess, but you could have seen it coming a mile away.

Boonen Fans

Tom Boonen won yet another race yesterday in the first
of the big Spring races. Even though I swore off all
professional cycling last year, I am back following the results.

These super fans (and future racers) do not seem to be too concerned
about any of the doping issues still hanging over the sport. I am
impressed with the drawing on the left which has Boonen
standing on the top tube as he crosses the finish line. That
would be sweet, but even Super Boonen could not pull it off...

Back in the Day

Check out this brilliant photo from the 1986 Tour de France. No helmets, one water bottle and skinny steel tubed bikes. At least they have lycra on. This photo seems like it was a million years ago (technology wise), but it was not that long ago at all. Makes you wonder what bikes (and riders) will look like in 2027...
