What a Bunch of Drunks!

First Tara Conner, the 2006 Miss USA, is accused of underaged drinking after moving to NY. Now the reigning Miss Teen USA, Katie Blair, gets busted for "hard partying". Donald Trump, the King of Morals, just publicly forgave Ms. Conner. Why he gets to forgive her sins, I have no idea. Ms. Blair of Montana is probably back home knocking back a few colds ones. She is from Montana, give her a break. What else are they supposed to do up there in the winter?

Unravelling at the Top

Iraq is the poster child this week, but the North Korea issue has not gone away. Look at these jokers in their mid-80's oversized London Fog jackets. Kim Jong looks sweet with the no hat, rock star sunglasses look. Having nuclear technology has made them cocky. Its the sort of situation that makes Condi squirm in her seat. Look at this photo from yesterday and consider that she is in charge. She looks like a nervous college student. Sad.

CCCP Race

Here are a couple good shots from the last Pilarcitos race, courtesy of Ms. Dunning. You'll notice a rider down in Ryan's shot. Ryan, focused on nothing short of total domination, rode over this rider right when Karl shouted "now is the time to make your move". This is the moment of clarity when crowd and rider become one. I however was less than stellar, but did try out the knickers for the race. They did a good job keeping the knees warm. Without them I may have finished 45th instead of 38th.

Tyler is Back!

Look, it only took me one day to switch back to road racing. Here is a photo of Tyler Hamilton's chimera, or is it of Tyler Hamilton? Not sure. Either way he is back racing, though his team does not have Pro Tour status. Thus, mister blood doper will not be at any of the big races in 2007. Maybe his team could afford to give him a helmet and gloves?

Mountain Bike Racing is Cool Again

This news item
  • Leadville100
  • has been in the press for a few days now, but it shows that MTB racing is definitely back on the rise again. Whether its the doping issues, crowded fields, whatever... there has been a switch in emphasis back to our off road roots. The bike shops and sponsors have not caught up, but road cycling will be passed by MTB cycling within 5 years. Just my prediction.

    Listen to Your Elders

The much anticipated Iraq Study Group Report was released today in Washington. This picture says it all, with Baby Bush mindlessly flipping through the document like its a report card that he does not want to acknowledge. Lee Hamilton and James Baker look strong and poised on either side. Their body language is in sharp contrast to the slumped Bush, our defeated leader.

    Pick Flick

As expected, Hillary Clinton just announced her run for the Presidency. The current version of Tracy Flick will do anything to win, including dressing up a dog for votes. Shameless!

    Bye, Bye USC

Thanks to a joyful UCLA, the Trojans will stay home for the holidays and play in the Rose Bowl. It was quite a day of football with both the dreaded Cardinal and Trojans going home with a loss. Its tough to be a private school and not get what you pay for.

    Stop Plate Tectonics!

I saw this on some 20ish's tshirt on BART the other day. Clever seismic humor. Things have been popping a bit lately down in south bay. A light Mw 4.0 hit the other day. Hopefully these are minor burps and not forshadows of bigger things to come.
