Ullrich Retires

So this is how it ends for the Big German. I will miss

his powerful riding style and determined grimace on

the climbs. What he had in sheer talent seemed to

always be balanced by bad luck.

I hope he reinvents himself well.

Getting Pipped

Paulo Bettini just squeeked by in his rainbow stripes yesterday for the win in SLO. The Belgians call this getting "pipped" at the line.

Liquefaction in the News

I never thought that I would see earthquake engineering within the lead stories for Yahoo News http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20070222/sc_livescience/livebacteriacouldreduceearthquakedamage. It probably has to do with the interesting use of bacteria to seal off the pore spaces between the soil grains. Cool concept but tough to sell to a client.

24 Hr Solo

The much hyped movie "24 Hour Solo" looks to be coming out in April. I hope it is better than All Out Grease, which could have been named All Out Boring. The new movie follows uber-fit Chris Eatough through a year of training for the 24 hr World Championship. These guys are pain mavens. Le Grande Champion

James the spaniel was just crowned "Best in Show". The lucky dog took top honors out of 2,628 entries. Our dog Jack could have been a contender if they included a "sleeping dog" or "best beggar" category.

Rainy Saturday

It is finally dumping rain. Tahoe is getting hammered
by deep, wet snow. The kind of day where Jack
lays around all day long.











I kinda did the same thing, but a took a
few photos of the new home decor.
We have a new Queen bed,

and we have a new couch and fish tank.
The KTown house is shaping up.

Colorado Riding

I borrowed this photo from the Velosnooz photo contest. While CO does not look like this now (just ask Jason), its nice to get a glimpse of that annual Fall experience of bright yellow riding.

CX Worlds

The US finally came through big in on the World's Stage. Three silvers and lots of time up front. Maybe the Euros are not doping as much, or maybe they are sharing now. Katie Compton looks happy, but not as happy as the Frenchies beside her.

Check out the sand pit that everybody had to ride through. Even the bronze medalist took a header on one lap. Brutal.
