I Heart Supercross

Here is the start of the 125cc class in San Diego this past February. Catherine and I went to this race back in 2002, and to this day, it was the greatest sporting event I have ever witnessed. Catherine would beg to differ :)

Mountain Bike Racing 2009

Here are a few photos of my brief, but fun, MTB race "season" for 2009. Do to more pressing demands, this is the first winter in years that I did not put in any base miles at all. This is not the typical "I have not been riding at all" excuse (or lie) that most cyclists will say, but is absolute fact. My road bike has semi-flat tires and has only seen action twice in the last 6 months. Sad, but true.

The first shot is of me (far left in black Swobo jersey) lining up with the serious racers for the pro and single-speed start of the first Bike Monkey race at Lake Sonoma. I finished in 2nd to last and suffered like a dog on my single-speed. It was a good reality check for the following 8-hr race up at Boggs which I decided to ride with gears.

Karl took the next shot of me at the start of the Boggs 8-hr race. FresnOakland did really well, as all three of our teams finished mid-pack in a strong 2-man field of 50 teams or so.

Justin took this sweet photo at the finish of my 5th lap (Karl and I had a total of 9 laps) after over 8 hrs of racing. We all look ready to start eating and drinking to celebrate our huge day.

The last couple photos are from the Lake Sonoma Grasshopper race in April. Dave and I were the first to line up, but definitely not the first to finish. At least the four of us had some energy left to smile at the finish after 3.5 hrs of racing.

We will have to see what next year brings, but for now I will focus on my biggest and most loyal fan...

A Sense of Order

I'm not sure what to call this one, perhaps, "waiting for the bus". Elsa lined up the little people today and I could not help but take a photo. Maybe this is the start of some new organizational phase? Either way, I was impressed with Elsa's sense of order.

Rainy Day Project

So what do you do on a Sunday morning when you planned to ride your bike, but it rained instead? Make a movie! This is my first video production ever, so it's a little rough. But Elsa steals the show (like always).
